Lakeland Christian Academy collected approximately $5,000 in groceries for Combined Community Services Wednesday. "It was very needed. We were at a point where we were very low with food," said Peggi Lisenbee-Wright, director of client services at CCS, 110 E. Prairie St., Warsaw. With all the cans, boxes and bags of non-perishable food, Lisenbee-Wright said CCS will be able to offer their clients more of a selection in food. Food pantries all across Kosciusko County are low, she said, so the LCA food drive came at a great time. "This is just a really hard year" for everyone, she said. The food pantry at CCS was down to just the bare essentials. Lisenbee-Wright thanked the students for all their hard work, and the community for supporting LCA's efforts. The Unleashing the Power of the Son Groups of Lakeland Christian Academy mobilized Wednesday, scouring Warsaw and Winona Lake neighborhoods to collect food. The students then delivered the food to CCS, sorted it and stacked it. UPS Groups are community service/discipleship groups from Lakeland Christian Academy that regularly serve at local schools, retirement communities and social service agencies.
