Utility AssistanceDuring the winter heating season, the EAP (Energy Assistance Program) is housed within CCS. While CCS does not schedule or distribute these funds, it is a blessing to have EAP in-house. We are able to help more people by working together and clients do not have to travel to two different places during the cold weather. To apply for EAP, come into the CCS lobby and pick up an application outside the EAP office on the right. This is another example of "combining community resources"! CCS utilizes funding from the United Way of Kosciusko County, individual donations, and funds from REMC and NIPSCO to provide utility assistance to low-income households, or households experiencing a temporary hardship, to prevent disconnection.
Utility Assistance Available for the following:
If you have extra wood available for clients to keep warm with, please call CCS Emergency Assistance at 269.6019 ext. 222 and speak with Peggi to donate! A hand up, not a hand out!In most situations, financial assistance is the tip of the iceberg that has brought people to our door. By offering a "hand up, instead of a hand out", we are able to meet more needs of people and offer solutions that lead to self sufficiency. Emergency Assistance offers a "needs assessment" to each client to better determine all areas of need. We work with households on basic budgeting skills. We have several tips for conserving energy and weatherizing your home available in our lobby. If you do not see a copy, please ask for one! |
